Customized treatment, restoring a full and healthy mouth

Implant dentistry is a standard dental procedure that involves the surgical positioning of metal posts or frames into your jawbone. This acts as a mount for replacement teeth. Since dental implants are bonded to your jawbone, they are extremely secure and stable, enabling your artificial teeth to function just like natural teeth. They preserve natural tooth tissue by avoiding the need to cut down adjacent teeth.

At Arden Park Dental Care, Dr. Shahnaz Formoli has had years of experience with numerous patience in this field, allowing her to perform professional implant dentistry procedures and improve your overall health.

Fixing dental bridges, crowns, or even dentures on your implants are a near-permanent solution and they will not shift around inside your mouth. So, not only are dental implants minimally invasive and highly functional, they also provide comfort. Depending on your individual needs, our dentist will recommend either a single implant, multiple implants, or an All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants

Dental implants will restore the full form and function of lost teeth and even replace a full set of teeth. The appearance, feel and function of natural teeth is the aim of dental implants, not to mention the resurgence they can bring to one’s self-esteem and confidence.

What our patient says about dental implant

“Everyone is nice and super helpful. They provide the environment where I actually look forward to going to the dentist to show off how great I’ve been at flossing. Would recommend it to anyone who has had bad past experiences at the dentist. The front desk explains the status of your insurance and gives you a great picture of what is covered, how much things cost, and whether to elect into optional procedures. All the hygienist are knowledgeable and explain why they do the things they do, which make it easier to keep up with dental care. The doctor is nice and really cares about her patients’ well-being. I’ve had nothing but great experiences.”

A closer look at dental implants

To start, the abutment is the part that connects the implant to the replacement tooth, also known as a crown, using a screw. It is custom-made from materials such as stainless steel or titanium. It is shaped like a small tooth, ready to be covered by a crown.
The replacement tooth or crown is the part that replaces your original tooth. It can be made up of either porcelain-fused-to-metal, all resin, or all ceramic. In most cases, it is usually made from porcelain-fused-to-metal. In our clinic, Dr. Formoli will either cement it onto the abutment or use a screw. If a screw is used, it will have to be followed by filling.

Single dental implant

As the name suggests, a single dental implant is simply one implant that replaces a missing or lost tooth. Being a premier dentist in dental implants, Dr. Formoli recommends this tooth replacement method as it has a number of benefits. One of the significant advantages is that a single dental implant enables your replacement tooth to look, feel, and function just like the rest of your original, natural teeth. Another reason why a single dental implant is beneficial is that the procedure is minimally invasive and will not damage or affect the adjacent teeth. In other words, you will have a new tooth inserted without sacrificing the health of the teeth next to it. Moreover, the root of your tooth is completely replaced when it comes to a dental implant, so you will have much lower chances of potential bone complications in the future.
A single dental implant has three main parts, which are the implant, the abutment, and the restoration. The implant is the part that is inserted into either your lower or upper jawbone. It is generally made of titanium.

Multiple implants

A happy old couple smiling

Multiple implants are merely implants that replace more than one lost or missing tooth. If you have several adjacent teeth missing, Dr. Formoli may use multiple implants to restore your smile.

It is one of the best and most popular methods for tooth replacement that skilled and experienced dentists generally opt for. This is because they are minimally invasive and offer many great benefits such as:

  • A strong, secure, and healthy jawbone.
  • No harm is done to the neighboring teeth.
  • Does not do any damage to your gum line.
  • They are comfortable, stable, and highly functional.
  • They are aesthetically pleasing since they closely resemble natural teeth.

You can either opt for a porcelain dental bridge supported by multiple dental implants or an individual replacement of each tooth with dental implants and a crown. To decide which is the best option for you, Dr. Formoli will conduct a thorough examination in our Sacramento clinic and recommend the treatment option that is just right for you.

A major drawback for bridges without implants is that the teeth neighboring the gap, on both sides, will have to be filed and reshaped to almost half of their original size. This makes them weaker and more likely to develop disease and decay. With dental implants, the integrity of your jawbone is not only maintained, but enhanced.

All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants

Also known as full mouth implants, All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implantsare dental implants that require just four implants to replace all your teeth. Compared to traditional dental implants, this offers a much more cost-effective method of teeth replacement since fewer posts are required. With conventional implant methods, replacing all your teeth on a single arch would require around eight to ten implants for one jaw.

What makes this technique different is that the implants are inserted at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees, whereas traditional implants are fitted straight down. An insertion at such an angle allows patients who have gone through bone loss to opt for the All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants technique. Also, this technique enables extracting, implanting, and fitting all in one day, compared to traditional implants, which require multiple dental appointments and a lengthy recovery period.

So, as you can see, All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants provides a multitude of benefits that traditional implants cannot offer. You no longer have to live with the trouble of having missing teeth or wearing uncomfortable dentures that keep slipping off and are not stable. You do not even have to compromise on your original, natural teeth in order to receive new ones.

At Arden Park Dental Care we provide top-tier implant dentistry, whether single, multiple or All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Formoli today, and she will let you know which kind of implant is the best for you.

You can restore your smile to its full appearance and functionality a lot more easily than you may have thought.

All-On-Four & All-On-Six Dental Implants

Dental implants are permanent, artificial teeth inserted to replace your old, weak, or diseased teeth. They are screwed onto your jawbone, and the natural bone grows around the implant and covers it up.

Dental implants are mostly made using Titanium or alloys.

Titanium is a highly biocompatible metal, and it’s perfectly safe when used in your dental implants. It is resistant to corrosive body fluids and lasts for decades.

  • You’ve partially or fully chipped your tooth due to an accident.
  • Your permanent teeth have become weak from the roots and are likely to fall out
  • You’ve lost your teeth, and there are gaps between your teeth

Dentures, although effective, are a short-term solution. Your dentures aren’t designed to withstand years of use. You will need to replace them multiple times, and each time it will be a challenge to get used to your new dentures.

However, dental implants are designed to last for decades and they don’t need to be replaced once fitted. Plus, once they heal, they feel like real teeth.

Overall, implants can help you save a lot of money, experience considerably lesser discomfort and pain in the long-run, and be a more effective treatment option than dentures.

Dental implants are custom built for each patient. After evaluating your requirements, our orthodontists will take a molding of your teeth. Then titanium implants are custom-made to fit your jaws. This entire process can be more expensive than fitting dentures.

However, implants are a one-time investment, and they last much longer than dentures. Additionally, most insurance companies cover implants these days, as they’ve become a common treatment procedure.

  • They help you regain your full set of pearly whites, making your smile look beautiful.
  • They allow you to enjoy all the foods & beverages you love, without experiencing pain.
  • They help you regain self-confidence as you don’t have to worry about unsightly gaps in your teeth.
  • They allow you to speak clearly and pronounce words properly.

The entire process of mapping your teeth, getting the implants made and inserting the implants can take up anywhere between 2 and 8 months, depending on how extensive the treatment is.

The process of screwing on the dental implants to your jaw can be a little painful. However, our specialists will give you local anesthesia to numb the pain.

Once they’re inserted the implants start bonding and fusing with your teeth. They can take up to 12 weeks to properly bond to the teeth. Once your implants are fused to your bone, it means they are healed.

Finally, abutments/connectors are placed on your implants, and then ceramic crowns are fitted to the abutments to make them resemble natural teeth.

Dental implants are a permanent solution to conditions having to do with the loss of teeth. Implants can last up to 30 years and even longer if you take good care of them.

You can resume brushing 24 hours after the implant procedure. Gently rinse your mouth with room temperature water. Use an extra-soft bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive/corrosive toothpaste to gently brush your teeth.

Brush below and around the crown of the implants. You can use an interdental brush to clean the spaces which you can’t reach. These brushes are specially designed for patients who’ve undergone oral surgical treatments.

To floss, don’t use dental tape or floss thread. Instead, buy a water flosser i.e., an oral irrigator. It’s gentler on your implants, and it can access those areas of the mouth which even interdental brushes can’t.

Speaker 1: This is Anaria and she recently received two dental implants with Dr. Formoli. Can you tell us a little bit about what you were experiencing prior to receiving the implants?
Speaker 2: Yes. Prior to receiving the implants, I was having to chew on some of my front teeth and I only have one wisdom teeth in the back. And that got quite a workout and it was starting to, the top teeth were starting to recede. So because of the gum exposure, the root exposure, the implants would provide me with a better, what would say the rest of my teeth and it would provide better chewing for the future. I can eat a steak with, I’ll having to chew for 20 minutes.
Speaker 1: Okay, great. And how did the actual procedure go with receiving the implants?
Speaker 2: Oh, the procedure was wonderful. It was a very pleasant experience even as far as the injection to numb the anesthesia to numb you. I didn’t even feel it when she numbed me.
Speaker 1: Okay, great. And tell me a little bit about how the healing went.
Speaker 2: Oh, the healing was, it was wonderful. I had sutures for about a week. I did the salt water rinse and the mouthwash rinse. And as long as you do those two things, the healing goes fine within the normal time.
Speaker 1: Perfect. Thank you very much.
Speaker 2: You’re welcome.

Speaker 1: This is Candace and she recently received a dental implant with Dr. Formoli.
Speaker 2: Hi. So earlier in the year, I had a molar extracted, so I needed a new tooth. Dr. Formoli just advised me that I should get an implant, and I was a little worried that it would be something really painful and a long drawn out process, but it was actually really easy, really simple. When I got here, the whole procedure took about an hour. It was completely pain-free. The recovery time was pain-free, and that was like, I didn’t even need any medication. I was literally completely fine. So I thought it was a great experience and I’m glad that I get to keep my tooth or get a new tooth in actually. And hopefully it’ll be stronger than that ever. So I’m really excited about it.
Speaker 1: Great. Thank you.
