Porcelain Veneers are a cosmetic and functional solution for a wide variety of dental concerns.

To create a natural appearance that isn’t bulky or overly large, the dentist will remove about 5mm from the tooth’s surface. Enamel is removed, leaving the tooth unprotected until the veneer is applied. So, if the veneer needs to be removed in the future, the tooth will be unprotected once more. As a long-term solution, this permanent removal of enamel may be concerning to some patients. Veneers can be placed in about two visits.
Lumineers are highly effective porcelain veneers: the thinnest and longest lasting.
- You can completely reshape and brighten your smile with the Lumineer process, and all without spending days in the dental chair.
- Our Lumineers provide the same function as porcelain veneers, but they are not as invasive. The original tooth is left unchanged, and the enamel is not damaged, which some patients prefer as a long-term solution.
- To achieve this, Lumineers are much thinner than veneers (they’re about as thick as a contact lens), but they’re still strong and durable.
- Like standard porcelain veneers, Lumineers offer the best of both cosmetic and functional dentistry by enhancing your teeth aesthetically and structurally.

- This patient wasn’t happy with the shade of her teeth and believed they were too dark. She aimed to have a brighter and healthier smile on her upper and lower teeth.
- To execute this, I created a Smile Design to add fullness, brightness, and a good functioning bite.
- I achieved this with ten units of minimal preparation veneers, each on the top and lower jaws. The patient’s smile is brighter and more balanced now.

What can I expect with Veneers and Lumineers
Another thing to bear in mind about Lumineers is that any tooth preparation is minimal. With traditional veneers we need to prepare your teeth under a local anesthetic, removing some tooth surface so your new veneers will not look too bulky or unnatural. Due to the ultra-thin design of Lumineers, tooth preparation is often not needed, preserving your natural tooth structure so this treatment could be reversed at some point in the future if needed.
Digitally designed, your new Lumineers will fit exactly over the front surfaces of your teeth, giving you a flawless and long-lasting smile. They will immediately feel natural and comfortable and should last for many years before you have to think about replacing them, as unfortunately, no tooth restoration will last forever.

Speaker 1: Hi Robert, so you had about six front veneers placed by Dr. Formoli, can you tell me a little bit of why you wanted to get that procedure done?
Speaker 2: Sure. So growing up I had kind of brittle teeth baby kind of gappy they were shortening from the way that my bite worked and were all kind of unhealthy and didn’t look great. So I talked to Dr. Formoli about what getting next to teeth could be and checked amended veneers and the whole process of that.
Speaker 1: Okay perfect and how did your visit here go with or can you describe a little bit about your treatment with Dr. Formoli on getting those veneers placed?
Speaker 2: Sure. First, we did maybe a year and a half of Invisalign trays, containing the rest of the teeth where they needed to be, and it was kind of an interesting situation since I was going to school in San Diego at the time. So I come up or like holiday breaks and get treatments done and while I was here and Dr. Formoli is very accommodating of my needs for that and trying to take things out well. She and Olga are always really great and talked me through everything and overall I think is a good experience as far as getting a sense of work on your teeth done.
